LaSalle County Jail Release Routes
LaSalle County is the physical custodian named in Putnam County's 2024 jail inspection for women generally housed outside Putnam's five-bed jail. “Generally” is important. It does not establish that every woman booked in a Putnam case went to Ottawa, nor does it identify where any one person was held on a given date. Confirm the custodian with Putnam first.
Once LaSalle custody is verified, ask what movement ended that stay. The person may have returned to Putnam for court or processing, transferred to another jail, entered IDOC after sentencing, or left custody under a court-authorized release. A LaSalle out-time proves departure from that jail. It does not, by itself, prove release into the community or resolve the status of the Putnam case.
Confirm LaSalle County Jail Release
Use a two-county verification chain. Start with Putnam County because it can identify the receiving facility tied to the local booking and case. Then contact LaSalle as the physical custodian. Gather the person's full legal name, approximate birth date or age, booking period, and Putnam case number before calling.
- Ask Putnam County where the person was physically held.
- If LaSalle is confirmed, contact LaSalle County Jail at 815-434-8383.
- Ask whether the person left LaSalle through release or transfer.
- Search Illinois VINE and note which agency supplied the event.
- Review the Putnam court docket and signed order.
- Request the LaSalle movement record when written proof is needed.
This sequence keeps custody and jurisdiction straight. The Putnam County released inmate search explains when to move next to IDOC, BOP, or ICE. Those databases apply only when the confirmed destination supports that step.

When calling, state that the question concerns a person held on a Putnam County matter. Ask for the release or transfer date and the receiving agency if that information is public. For a document, request the existing booking and movement record from the office that maintained it. Do not ask Putnam to certify LaSalle's physical out-time or ask LaSalle to interpret the Putnam judge's order.
LaSalle and Putnam Records
Two records may be needed because two custodians perform different roles. LaSalle's jail-management record can identify admission, release or transfer time, movement type, and destination. The Putnam Circuit Court file can identify the case number, charge, pretrial or bond ruling, warrant, disposition, sentence, and later orders. The Putnam sheriff may also retain the original booking or transfer entry.
| Question | Best source |
|---|---|
| Was the person physically at LaSalle? | Putnam referral plus LaSalle custody record |
| When did the person leave Ottawa? | LaSalle movement entry |
| Why did custody change? | Putnam court order and movement code |
| Did IDOC receive the person? | IDOC profile after intake |
| Was the event reported for notification? | Illinois VINE, read by reporting agency |
A docket entry can lag or summarize the signed order. A VINE event depends on the supplying agency. A direct record from the physical custodian is the strongest source for the out-time.
LaSalle County Jail Transfer Meaning
A person can disappear from Putnam-facing information when Putnam sends them to LaSalle. That first movement is not community release. Later, the person can leave LaSalle through a return to Putnam, another jail transfer, IDOC commitment, or a true discharge. Each event should be described separately.
This distinction also matters after sentencing. If the Putnam court commits the person to IDOC, a jail “release” entry may mean delivery to state custody. Search the official IDOC Individual in Custody Search after allowing for intake and data entry. A local detainee released without a state commitment may never appear there.
LaSalle County Jail VINE Check
Illinois VINE interfaces with participating county jail systems and accepts a specific-person search. Open the Illinois jurisdiction, enter the identifying information, and review the reporting agency. A LaSalle result describes information supplied for LaSalle custody. A Putnam or IDOC result belongs to that other agency.
Registering for notifications may provide phone, email, or text updates for eligible events. Still, an alert is not a full movement document. “Release” can need clarification when another authority receives the person. Call the reporting jail and compare the result with the Putnam court order.
LaSalle County Jail Court Proof
The Putnam County court remains the legal record for a Putnam prosecution even while another county supplies a bed. Review the docket for detention rulings, pretrial conditions, bond actions where applicable, warrants, dismissal, sentencing, and later orders. Ask the Circuit Clerk for the signed document when a short docket label does not answer the question.
Physical and legal dates may differ. A judge can enter an order before transportation and discharge processing finish. Conversely, a jail movement may show an exact out-time without explaining the full legal basis. Pairing the Putnam order with the LaSalle movement provides both parts of the event.
LaSalle County Jail IDOC Transfer
IDOC's search is a state-prison tool. It is not a historical archive for LaSalle or Putnam county-jail bookings. Use it only after the court, sheriff, or jail indicates a state commitment. Prefer an IDOC number when available, or search by surname or birth date and compare identifiers.
A state profile may show Offender Status, Location, admission and sentence information, and projected or actual parole-related dates. A future projected date does not confirm completed release. A `PAROLE` status with an actual Parole Date can show prison exit into supervision. Fully discharged records may require the IDOC archived Record Search route because the live locator does not display every completed sentence.
LaSalle County Jail Official Source
The official LaSalle County Jail page identifies the facility and its contact route.

This page supports the facility identity. Putnam's inspection supplies the separate fact that female Putnam detainees are generally housed there.
LaSalle County Jail Limits
No research supports treating LaSalle as the custodian for every Putnam detainee. Putnam also uses unnamed neighboring county jails for longer-term detention, and those facilities should not be guessed. Call the Putnam sheriff at 815-925-7015 or 815-925-7084 to identify the actual receiving agency.
Likewise, no local source establishes a BOP or ICE detention facility in Putnam County. If a movement record names a federal authority, use the matching federal locator and court file. An ICE detainer alone does not prove that ICE took custody. The executed movement entry must show the receiving authority.
Record the date checked, agency shown, and exact event label. Those notes help reconcile a later VINE update or court entry and prevent a same-named county in another state from being mistaken for an Illinois Putnam County case.
